5 tips on how to avoid a burn-out for novice entrepreneurs
Even seasoned creatives like Pewdiepie and Michelle Pham confessed to having suffered from burnouts and the need to take long breaks from content creation. How can we, as creative entrepreneurs, prevent burnouts before they hit?
It’s probably important for generally everyone to be aware so as to being burned out in the future and I, for one, know that it’s important for me to stay especially wary. This is because I’m aware that I belong to the category of a giver according to American organizational psychology Adam Grant’s typology.
In case you weren’t familiar with these terms, let me explain. Grant once said in his TED talk that workers in a corporation can be divided into 3 types: the giver, the taker and the matcher.
The giver tries to maximise the other person’s value, the taker tries to maximise his own value, whereas the matcher, on the other hand, tries to get equal value for what they give. Givers, due to their helpful nature, are the most likely to be ordered around, especially when they are placed together with taker bosses or colleagues.
